My New Business Plan for Publishing on Substack
I have been spending a lot of time and effort publishing on Medium, but recently, I decided to refocus on Substack. It took a while to get re-acquainted, but it was worthwhile because I discovered the importance of Notes and some additional, very useful features.
Reading My Digital Business Model by
inspired me to apply a business plan to my Substack account. The model I used was the same as the one I have been using for my website - LearningPages.org
LearningPages.org is the website for the Learning Pages Project, which provides online learning resources for learners, trainers, and educators. The project was motivated by the desire that learning should be widely available and not be lost.
When articles are first published, they are only accessible to paid subscribers. After about twelve weeks, they become freely available.
All subscribers receive a monthly newsletter with links to the latest early access and free articles.
Paid subscribers get early access to my articles and all the benefits of a Learning Pages Member. Early access articles are identified with a ✨ symbol at the end of the title, in addition to the padlock symbol that Substack places in front of the publication date.
Although all articles will eventually be available for everyone, paid subscribers sign up not only to have early access but also to support the Learning Pages Project.
Founder Members can also publish approved posts on LearningPages.org and on my Substack page.
